The New Rich and the New Rules

I was inspired recently from listening to an audio book from Timothy Ferris called: The Four Hour Work Week.  The book defines the new rules of the rich and how to "Escape 9-5 and join the new rich." Times have changed and the way we create an income has also changed.

We have been taught to follow this system:
- Go to school (Bachelors, Masters, etc.)
- Get a good job
- Work for 45 years jumping around from job to job every 3-5 years
- Retire at the age of 65 and start living your life and travel the world

Have you just stopped and thought about this for a minute? Why do you have to wait until your 65 to start living your life!? That's just crazy! With the movement of technology, things have changed. No longer do you have to be tied down to a physical location or even a 9-5, Monday - Friday, schedule.

With technology you can now work anywhere, any time.

Now, I’d have to say that most employers usually frown upon you showing up and leaving whenever you feel like it. However, with that said, the WAYs we create an income has also changed.  Millions of people are leveraging the Internet to create wealth.  And I'm not just talking about $1,000's, I mean Billions (Facebook, etc.).  You don't necessarily have to become that big, but why not leverage technology and pick up and work wherever you want.

Well, the good news is that you can, but you just need to know some of the new rules.

Goals:
To work for yourself – The New Rich (NR): Have others work for you

To work when you want to – NR: To prevent work for work’s sake (Do the minimum necessary for the maximum result)

To retire early/young – NR: To distribute mini retirements throughout life on a regular basis, recognizing that inactivity is not the goal. Doing what excites you is the goal.

To buy all the things you want to have – NR: To do all the things you want to do and to be all the things you want to be.

To be the boss instead of the employee – NR: To be neither the boss nor the employee but to be the owner. Have someone else make sure things run correctly.

To make a ton of money – NR: To make a ton of money but with specific reasons. To create time lines with steps included and to have dreams to chase.
To have more – NR: To have more quality and less clutter

To reach IPO and have big pay off – NR: Think big payday everyday
